Middle Flint Behavioral Healthcare is a legislatively created public corporation, one of 26 community service boards around the state that provide behavioral health and developmental disability services. We are not a state agency ourselves, but do contract with the state’s Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities to provide services to the public. We also can establish other services and conduct other activities not purchased by the state, as long as we do not use state funds to do so.
Powered by Hackadelic Sliding Notes 1.6.5Our fees help cover our operating costs. A non-profit organization is not a charity – it does not give away services. However, it does provide them at the lowest possible cost to the public. We also charges for services on a sliding fee scale and can make special payment arrangements with individuals who are unable to pay at the present time. For further information, see our
Client Rights and Responsibilities.

Please know that we make every effort to keep information about you private, including whether you attend services and what you discuss. There are limited circumstances under which we may be required to report private information; e.g., if someone’s life is at risk, if a person is ordered to treatment by the court, etc. State and federal regulations and laws also protect you, and we ask any individual who thinks his or her private information has been revealed to notify us or file a formal complaint. For further information, see our
Client Rights and Responsibilities.
Powered by Hackadelic Sliding Notes 1.6.5An individual service plan or treatment plan is used to make sure you receive the appropriate services any problems you are having. The plan, which should be developed with your help, is approved by a physician. It spells out your treatment activities and goals for you in treatment, along with timelines and other details. Please review your service plan if you have any questions about your services, and make sure you have signed your agreement to the plan. We will be glad to discuss with you any changes to your plan.

Client Rights and Responsibilities. If you wish to complain about your services or wish to change your provider, we encourage you to discuss this issue with your assigned counselor, nurse, or physician.
Powered by Hackadelic Sliding Notes 1.6.5Through our contract with the state, we are required to provide services to individuals in our eight-county service area. If there is not a waiting list for services, we may be able to serve someone from outside our area, depending upon the particular need. We also encourage individuals and families to learn more about the services available in their local areas. A quick way to check on what services are available to you in your county is to go to
http://www.gcal.com/. Information on services in your area is available online, or you can call their toll-free number for a referral.
Powered by Hackadelic Sliding Notes 1.6.5Give us a call first to discuss your concerns. We may be able to help you sort through your service needs and help you determine whether you need an appointment. If so, our evaluation process is designed to gather as much relevant information as possible to find out what your problems are, as well as possible causes and treatments. Please come prepared to go over your family, medical, school, and employment history, as well as to discuss your concerns and problems.
Powered by Hackadelic Sliding Notes 1.6.5Depending upon the services you need, we may be able to do so. For several of our services, we operate transportation routes and can pick you up at your door. For many other services, we can schedule an appointment to come into your home or another convenient location. We are even beginning to use videos and TVs to allow clients to communicate with their doctors and other providers. If you have a special need, just let us know.
