Community
If a word appears in our name, you know it is important! Middle Flint Behavioral Healthcare covers eight counties, each with its own diverse communities. On our service map, you will find the locations of our communities and service sites. But serving communities is about more than providing facilities or formal services. We believe that a healthy individual or family flourishes in a healthy community. Working with communities is about:
- Promoting community knowledge, in order to combat stigma and increase awareness of the needs for individuals with disabilities and problems coping with their lives.
- Providing opportunities for greater independence in the communities in which individuals live – through supported jobs, housing, transportation, and training.
- Promoting community tools for recovery. Social isolation is an all too frequent by-product of mental or cognitive disability. Inclusion in the community means opportunities for recreation and socialization in a caring community.
